When Akise Teague recently cancelled his visit to Wisconsin in order to join Shaq Washington at UC this weekend, it appeared as if the Bearcats were the frontrunners in his recruitment, and after spending two days on Cincinnati’s campus, sources tell Bearcat Lair that Ohio’s Mr. Football made his college decision today and gave a verbal pledge to Butch Jones and his UC staff.
Teague was nothing short of phenomenal this year in winning the Associated Press’s highest award, and although he will probably continue to play running back at Cincinnati, he is such a good athlete that he could also be a candidate to do other jobs as well.
In fifteen games this season for the undefeated state champions, the senior rushed the football 227 times gaining 2,472 yards for almost a 9 yard per carry average, and as a receiver, Teague had 35 receptions for 842 yards. The 5-foot-8, 175 pounder returned 15 kicks for 464 yards and 15 punts for 319 yards. Playing defensive back, he had six interceptions returning three for scores. For the season, this multi-talented athlete scored an astounding 48 times.
Bearcat Lair expects to have more on this breaking story in the next day or two.
