As the Bearcats prepare to play their biggest MAC rival, they got a visit from a former Mid-American Conference star at Tuesday's practice. Former Central Michigan quarterback, Dan LeFevour, stopped by the Jefferson Avenue Sports Complex to meet with his former coaches, and Bearcat Lair was there to speak with LeFevour.
Dan LeFevour visits Butch Jones
“I’m very familiar with this coaching staff and this offense,” said LeFevour. “I’m here to watch them since it’s kind of an off day for us. I just like being around football.”
The 6th round Chicago draft pick is now in Cincinnati playing for the Bengals. LeFevour was released by the Bears with the intention of resigning him to their practice squad, but the Bengals saw an opportunity and signed him as their No. 3 quarterback.
LeFevour was asked if he knew much about the Bearcat football program.
“I knew a little bit because Coach Kelly was here, and I played for that staff as well. But I don’t know a whole lot so this is my biggest exposure to the program.”
Although he didn’t know a lot about the Cincinnati program, LeFevour has been on UC’s campus, and he was impressed with the new practice facility.
“It’s great,” he said. “I was here back in February after the combine, and I saw the big hole. It really looks nice, and it’s something they needed, and other sports can use it too.”
Despite his limited knowledge of Bearcat football, LeFevour predicts continued success primarily because Butch Jones is at the helm.
“I think he’ll bring a great atmosphere here. It definitely will feel like a family atmosphere, and the players will really get to know their teammates well, not just people they work with in football. Coach Jones does a great job at the college level.”
