As long as it does not include Mike Price. Either Tressel or Petrino...........why? because fairweather UC fans have shown that we will need a big name for them to show up.

I honestly don't want to take a lower level coach. The only one I might consider would be Taggert - which Im really suprised no one has hired yet. He seemed to be the hottest name for the past 2 seasons. Give me a coordinator who is already recruiting BCS level recruits.

He would bring in a top drawer staff, probably including Fickel and Coombs. Fickel could coach during the suspension.

Just curious but why do people think Tressel would come and why is he a good hire? He wins. Ok, but he lies and cheats. He runs a terrible offense that must have top talent to execute and while he may recruit well, it wont be like at osu. Osu is why he recruited well. I love the idea of bringing coombs and fickel though. I take tressel ten times before the toledo or wku coaches.

No one knows if he would come here but because he is available it is a call that should be made.
Tressel is currently at U of Akron to stay in the OPERS system for pension purposes.
If he were to become HC at UC he would be able to stay in OPERS.
If he leaves leave the OH public college system to coach, he would not accrue any more service years in OPERS.
It is an advantage UC offers that few other schools do.

The last time we did that, the coaching hire sputtered through the season with a very experienced roster, losing to an Army team that had lost 19 straight, and getting demolished by Louisville on the way.

Petrino I think given a second chance and the university committing to the facilities upgrades it could work out. He would be grateful for another chance and maybe his loyalty to the school because we gave him a second chane would trump any offers in the future.

IMO if we want to stop this "revolving door" of coaches coming and going, we stop hiring lower tier coaches and get an already proven name. Obviously UC has become a launching pad for some of these younger coaches so getting a guy who's name is already out there and won't surprise anyone with success might be just what the program needs. Not saying Tressell or Patrino are the answer but just something to think about.

None of this matters. It doesn't matter who we hire, how storied they are, or how many games they win. They will always leave, and UC will always be left out because we have a small fan base, can't raise money for athletics, can't fill a tiny stadium in a good year, can't improve our stadium and are in a pathetic conference.
