If Kerry Coombs were to come back to UC I would hope it be in recruiting only. The guy is an AWFUL coach who fans here seem to adore. I get it- he has enthusiasm, jumps around on the sidelines, whatever but none of that translates to performance on the field. His secondarys have never ranked in the top half of FBS programs. I dont want this guy as a coach, period.

I respect your opinion but certainly don't agree with it.

"Awful" coaches don't get and keep jobs with nationally respected head coaches like Brian Kelly, Butch Jones and Urban Meyer. It's not like he's been working for even average FBS head coaches. Do you honestly think any of those guys hire and retain "awful" coaches?

I know it's easy to look at passing numbers and claim a defensive back coach is terrible, but defending the pass falls on the entire defensive unit and maybe moreso the defensive coordinator and his philosophy.

The teams that Kerry has coached have a combined 55-18 record.

I said many times that when it comes to Kerry there are only two camps. Some love him and others hate him. I've even told him that, but he is clearly not an "awful" coach.

This staff has enough clout that I don't believe that it is imperitive that we grab a "local guy" for recruiting. If this group is as good as advertised they will make a strong impression and have the national background to backup what they are selling.

Agree 1000%. Intriguing Q is, what are they selling ? What has TT sold his assistants on ? Whatever it is , it needs to get spread all over the Tristate and all over our 100k proximitous alums.....and according to TT's track record, it will. At the end of the day in a perfect world we need about 25 - 29 k season ticket holders. That's only 40% of what he needed at AU.
