I would rather be the only FB on during the week then playing at noon on ESPN3. I understand the argument for live attendance but for TV I think playing during the week will net UC more exposure than they would by playing at noon on Saturday on ESPN3.
From a purely competition standpoint the schedule balances out well I think.
Plus at the end I love TT having a bye-week to prepare for Louisville.
I don't think the schedule is all that bad.
Who knows, maybe we will get lucky and the Maryland suit will be resolved soon, and then this could be our last season in the TBA conference.
UC LCoB '12 - @RyanTJBauer
I don't mind the Memphis game being on a Wednesday for those reasons.
The exposure is good.
But I'd hate it if it was a home game since I travel in from out of state.....
If I was Memphis fan I'd be less than thrilled though.
Maybe... UC was 3-0 for the first time in forever too.
Hoping to make the Illinois game, should definitely make the USF game as my wife is from Tampa and a USF grad, so we'll just go visit/stay with her family. Then obviously Miami is an easy trip. Hopefully i'll just miss the Memphis, Rutgers, and Houston games in person.
Having relocated to Jacksonville, I just told my wife that we'll be taking in the USF game.
You will enjoy it. Other that UL its seems to be the largest travel crowd of Bearcat fans go to Tampa. One thing get your tix in the UC section. The USF fans aren't the best hosts.
That Memphis game will get 10x more ratings than it would've gotten had it been on a Saturday on Big East Network/ESPN 56. At first I didn't like it but now I don't mind. It's college football, and its the only game on. People will watch.
I have the same feelings. At the minimum, it will be tuned in most sports bars across the country as they usually leave a TV or two on the four letter network at all times. Folks in Cincinnati will be watching and I am guessing the folks in Memphis will be tuning in.
Decent schedule considering what could have been. Wish we would have played UCF since I have family in Orlando that occasionally take in a Knight's game. Road trips that I should be able to make include Illinois, Miami, USF, and Houston. Been to Piscataway once, no need to go back unless UC is playing for an undefeated season at the end of the year. Memphis in the middle of the week is a maybe.
Somehow I lost an in box message re the Louisville tickets. Please resend.
If someone cannot make that night I think I can find a paying home for at least 2 tickets.
While everyone worries about "exposure" on tv watch how this contract destroys a fan base over time much like the MAC. Maybe we can just play on a field with no stands but cameras everywhere.
Why are we told to not judge Islam by the actions of a few extremists, but judge all gun owners by the actions of a few killers?
Good news is, only Wednesday game is on the road, and the Thursday game is UL. As for Temple, I cannot imagine a Friday night game being a huge impediment, even if bad for hosting HS recruits.
We tend to whine about everything! Just win baby!
Should be favored in 11 games. BE looks like they gave us the best schedule possible to succeed. I see another BE title and BCS bid very likely.
I think you hit on one of the under reported aspects of the new contract. Not only is the money terrible but how do you sell season tickets in Cincy to a bunch of Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday noon games? It won't be easy.
Just checked out the competions schedules and Miami, Memphis, SMU, Rutgers, Louisville all get bye weeks before they play us. Not worried about Miami, SMU or Memphis, but it would be nice if UL and RU played each other before our game against one of those two.
Wed. night games is not the exposure UC needs. That has MAC written all over it.
Sort of what I was thinking as well. Wednesday night games are usually Bowling Green vs. Kent St in front of 900 fans. I don't think that will have the same "exposure" impact some might think.
I seem to remember UC playing WVU on a Wed in 2005. Got hammered on national TV but still never ended up in the MAC after that. Any standalone exposure is good for anyone.
I wouldn't want it as a home game.
But on the road, doesn't bother me so much.
Sounds like a good match-up that I'd like to watch.
However, it looks as if MAC night will be Tuesday. Ohio University's last four games will be played on a Tuesday night.
There are good football teams in the MAC, but that conference is at the bottom of D1 for attendance and it looks bad on TV, even
when their best teams are playing. Wed night is bad Tuesday night is just flat out horrible. How can any Alums get to go games.
The above will just continue the tradition of MAC students rooting for Michigan, OSU, MSU, etc.
I worked at a company that had a lot of MAC grads. Not one was a fan of their Alma Mater they all rooted for Cbus state Michigan and MSU. Need a conf. invite like yesterday at least by the start of next season.
