Chances of us to ACC then?
right now we are not mentioned. While we can hope for a miracle, most national people make their money from being right. One guy may not know much but when numerous sources don't have you on their radar,it is unlikely that you are a stealth. Barring a tagalong or something totally out of the blue, we need to think about reality and itis that we will likely be in the left overs like the Thanksgiving turkey. Hope I'm wrong but I don't see or hear anything to change my thoughts.
Before last saturday, Maryland and Rutgers to the B1G was on nobody's radar.
I take more stock from a school publicly begging than being on the pundits radar.
I remember when UC was considered an outside candidate for big east.
Everyone had Louisville to big 12 then boom wvu got it.
I heard no one last week talking Maryland and Rutgers to b1g. Or called notre dame to acc when it happened.
Point is no one really knows. Not a wvu blogger that's for sure nor any of these other guys truthfully. National or not.
I find it hard to believe a school with a top 30 market, entry into a state like ohio, good success and a strong academic rating is out in cold if a bunch of schools move.
Not true at all. It was common knowledge that the Big 10 had interest in Maryland and that Rutgers was doing all they could to get into the Big 10 (stadium expansion). The unknown was if/when it would happen.
Now that is sound logic. We'll find out how this shakes out after it shakes out. Until then we can only read the hollow words of internet geniuses whose only references are from themselves.
I agree where the B12 is concerned, and I'd hate to see UL get an invite there while we are still in limbo, not knowing what will happen with the ACC.
In conference realignment has sound logic even been a factor?
... but before last saturday it actually happening was on nobody's radar.
Just because UC always flies under the radar of the sports punditocracy doesn't mean it flies under the radar in administrative circles. That's why we got into the Big East, that's why our leadership is consistently in leadership in the NCAA and our conference.
If every team that was trying to get into the B1G and the pundits at one point thought was a good fit it would be a 30 team league at this point. Nebraska was a great fit that kinda flew under the radar because everybody thought Mizzou would get in ... mostly because they were making noise about it ... which is why I think that U of L making noise and us being quiet is a good thing.
WVU begged to get into the SEC, begged to get into the ACC, then the B12 invited them and they felt obligated. Last fall, UConn begged and they didn't get in. Are they now? No. When you publicly beg, you're not in a position of strength.
Do you know that ECU has a whole website explaining why it is a great fit for the Big East?
