And the hits just keep on coming...
Pete Thamel @SIPeteThamel
Three sources told me today that Boise's depature from the Big East is inevitable. “I would be shocked if it didn’t happen.”
If they do leave, I really hope they have to at least play this season in the Big East. I don't want to be hosed on our home schedule again like we were this year with two FCS games.
Is anyone really surprised by this move?
Go Bearcats. Beat Duke.
Last one out turn off the lights. Just hope it isn't us.

New Mexico, Colorado St. showing prelim interest in coaxing BYU, Boise State to form new league. http://cbsprt.co/TcJudz
Brian Murphy @murphsturph
Before Boise State joined Big East, it commissioned a study on its options. Forming own league was No. 2 option behind joining Big East.
Correct me if I am wrong, but they don't have to pay an exit fee since the auto bid to the BCS was part of the deal.
Well, we still have the auto-bid next year...
Can we join the mwc too?
As with all things in this mess, the Mountain West is trying to do whatever they can to be stronger. But Boise had better be careful not to get too jumpy here because I still think that a Big East with true West and East divisions with a championship game can be more attractive to TV ultimately and provide Boise with better exposure. But emotions are also taking hold in much of this, which is probably not good for anything like that playing out.
And our home schedule for nxt takes a nice hit.
The Big East is going to be a case study for some MBA program on how to bugger up something. What a gawd awful mess.
If our home schedule for next fall gets effed up over this, I'm not going to be happy at all. Somewhere along the way, doesn't there have to be some accountability? Some financial disincentive for all this? Honest to god, we seem to be the ONLY ones getting pummeled by all this crap.
The lack of real vision from all involved from the start of the Big East departures has been sad. Look at the fighting for what some would call table scraps, I have no doubt that the Big East could have been very strong and likely a better home for everyone if people could have had that vision and fought for the tv deal together. TV has sliced and diced now for their interests.
Boise St is in no way table scraps. Outside
of UC they're the lynchpin of the Big East.
I agree, what I meant was that in the overall conference realignment game Boise and UC have been considered table scraps by the powers that be in these "big" conferences. Can you imagine if all of us AND those who have left the Big East had stuck together, that would have been right up there as a clear top conference with a very solid TV deal.
"New Mexico, Colorado St. showing prelim interest in coaxing BYU, Boise State to form new league." How about BYU join BE west division. New Mexico and Colorado St. have no chance of making in the future BE line up if they were to join. They would not become bowl eligible in the new BE.
Thamel tweet says mwc reached out to one non western big east member?

Article above sites Cincinnati and UConn sources, who state North Carolina and Georgia Tech to the Big Ten.
In a previous thread I stated that the next realignment would occur once the Maryland lawsuit is settled. It appears now that the Big East issues are taking precedent and forcing things to move faster. Too much information released today, for things not to get moving in early January.
Boise is being smart if they leave in my opinion. They are seeing that the super 16 leagues are coming and that the Big East could very well dissolve further. The problem for us is that the big leagues are taking their time. The ACC is sitting around in their old money east coast back rooms fantasizing of keeping the league together while hanging on to a thread of in real time. The Big Ten is taking their time because they are the big money makers and know they can. The SEC has the best brand of football out there they are not in a rush. Texas is standing naked in the mirror air humping and flexing in complete vain while the rest of the big 12 sits off by themselves watching. The PAC 12 already owns the whole west coast. Who makes the first move?
Funny thing is Mick said himself, rumors come out on Friday, and news is announced on Saturday. How ironic.
And of course the new MWC deal helps Boise's cause.
It's no secret that UC and UConn will leave the Big East at the first opportunity. There just is no stability for teams like Boise St and SDSU to commit to an enterprise that is certain to dissolve.
Yep. The pending new TV contract for the BE is moving realignment into warp speed. Networks don't want to enter a contract just to wait for it all to be broken in a year or two.
You have to wonder if the networks are incentivizing the Power Conferences to just end this madness once and for all.
