I truly believe that this realignment horse crap is hurting the casual fans interest in college football. This is evidenced by college football actually losing viewership over the last year on networks except for NBC (which was only bolstered by Notre Dame's huge season)
Lets face it...even if you're team is moving to a 'better conference' you usually aren't all that thrilled because of all the tradition and rivalries that are ruined. WVU and the sensible portion of their fanbase has communicated this with me.
The day realignment ends is the day college football can finally start getting back to what truly matters-the games being played on the field.
First, as badly as we feel about this, one only need look at Houston, SMU, and Temple fans to find abject dismay.
Second, the MWC leadership has been as badly a failure, if not moreso, as the BE leadership over the years. Yeah, we look at the fact that the BE has "hemoraged" programs, but the MWC has been noteable in it's failure to lock up Boise State and Fresno State while they were at their peak and losing Utah, BYU, TCU, SDSU, and Boise State. The MWC has also demonstrated it's incompetence in losing it's cable network and signing off it's media rights to CBS at a pitiful level...all of which remains UNCHANGED at this point, but with "leeway." "LEEWAY"??? With this group, that's like allowing the capitan of the Titanic some "leeway" of how close to steer towards the icebergs.
First, if SDSU and Boise State's leadership decide to jump back aboard the good ship MW (don't forget the god-awful "rebranding" that killed the momentum of the old MWC and replaced it with the "Dr. Who" rip-off MW logo...) then they deserve EXACTLY what they get. Don't forget, they decided to LEAVE that conference for some definite reasons... none of which have really changed.
Second, if the MW decides to fashion a "national conference" with an Eastern division, as is being kibbutzed about, UC should ABSOLUTELY NOT join it...except if there is no other option available. Seriously. As bad as the BE leadership has been, the MW leadership is WORSE. (Besides, the MW will not come this far east... They will take the Texas teams... This group doesn't have the vision to go to a national conference....)
I think this is just more collusion between CBS and ESPN to preclude NBC from becoming a major college FB player. In the end, the MW will not get any significantly better deal from CBS than they already have and CBS will have it's market-share of the CFB world locked securely into place.
Do we really want to be in the new ACC? They are about to get pummeled.
Boise is apparently maneuvering for their own TV deal within either the BE or MW... Amazing. BSU would still give the BE FB cred, but without them in the TV deal, I wonder how much value they would end up bringing anyway...
I could see the MW doing the deal. I dunno about the BE...
Boise State is trying to get the Big East and Mountain West to allow the Broncos to retain their home television rights, to guarantee which conference the school ends up in, sources told ESPN.
Oh... And aparently the "non Western" school approached by the MW seems to be Navy. Nothing concrete on that front, but that's what it appears to be at the current time.
If they don't join, then no, TCU didn't pay an exit fee (at least I don't think they did)
Would people please stop downvoting topics that have news that might not be positive? Can't even fathom why I would have gotten a down vote for passing on news.
They must not understand the "don't shoot the messenger" idea. I cancelled it out for you with an upvote.

Boise has leverage. They are using it. As for UC, I remember an old saying that there are three types of people, those who makes thing happen, those who are content to watch what is happening and those who are always wondering what just happened. Boise is being the first. UC is either number two or three.
There is no way the 50m holds up in my non-legal opinions. It would be looked at as an excessive penalty. That was even said when it was done. I would expect 16--17m at the most.
GO BEARCATS!! FIGHT!!! FIGHT!!!! FIGHT!!!!!
I think 90% of downvotes are mistakes.
