and so it begins
The Big East tournament, whatever its new name, will begin rotating sites next year.
I wonder if not playing at MSG will affect basketball recruiting in NYC. I like the payday for UC though. Hopefully it can hold us over until we move to the ACC(hopefully)
I bet the "new" conference moves bball tournament to Memphis. Certainly not the same history, but could be a lot worse.
@mrgalati / @RepOfCincinnati
I think the tournament rotates between a number of sites.
GO BEARCATS!! FIGHT!!! FIGHT!!!! FIGHT!!!!!
I wouldn't mind UC hosting the tourney. It would be fun.
Memphis. New Orleans. Cincinnati. Orlando.
Any of these four would be good sites.
Another site stating the split....100MM to 3 schools, and 10MM to the C7 plus they get the name and MSG.
Basketball schools will retain Big East name, right to play conference tournament at Madison Square Garden
itll be interesting to see how the c7 tourney does there.
yes they have some east coast schools like providence seton hall and st johns, but none of them really have large fan bases that ive seen. Mix in a bunch of midwest schools like Xavier, Butler, Marquette and whoever else they may add and it seems like a bit of an odd site. Not so much the location as much as i dont know that a venue like MSG is apropriate. I just dont know that they'll be able to come close to filling it, but we shall see. Im sure all the fan bases will come out in droves the first year or two, but after that i think attendance will be pretty poor.
If true thats a whole lot more money than the original estimates of $15-20mil per football school. Having said that i bet it doesn't take into account some of the things that money will be used for other than going to the schools pockets.
To put it in perspective if we got $33 mil that's almost two years worth of TV money in the ACC i believe.
Can't forget G'Town in DC. With this lineup it'll be them and Marquette every year in the finals unless you expect St. Johns, Providence, or X/Butler put up a fight to those schools.
