Forgive me if this has been posted and talked about, but I just came across the article. Not a good way to start recruiting in Ohio.
No problem, but it is discussed in the later portion of this thread:
Kyle Kempt tells me he has decommitted from the Bearcats
Yup. Thanks.... sorry everybody.
Hey, I personally don't have an issue and maybe it deserves it's own thread... No problem.
(I do think it's comical how Jason Hall says that UC will never be allowed on the Masillon campus so long as "Jason Hall" is there...)
Maybe the way to handle it is to ignore Jason Hall, send letters and info to whomever you want and be up front about Hall's bias, he will be in an awkward position;
Had Kempt reaffirmed his commitment I doubt this would have happened, the assumption is he was a Jones recruit and his brother was going to TN as a grad assistant, natural he would follow.
Someone is really trying to make this into a MAJOR issue.
I got a personal message from someone obviously close to the situation telling me Kyle Kempt decommitted only "AFTER" his scholarship was pulled. The person basically was also implying that Darrin Hinshaw was to blame for the situation.
In reality, the problem is Kyle has said on multiple occasions to multiple reporters that he was "looking around."
He also publicly said he was going to visit other schools including Tennessee if they offered.
The new UC staff obviously couldn't view Kempt's commitment as anything close to solid so they had to also "look around." When they did, Brent Stockstill jumped at the opportunity essentially ending Kempt's recruitment to UC.
Kyle then said he "decommitted" but now is saying his UC offer was pulled. That happens and we saw it happen with the former UC staff in the recruitment of Trey Kilgore (?) of St. Xavier.
I totally understand why Kyle Kempt wanted to "look around," but he can't honestly blame UC for doing the same thing. The entire recruiting system with commits, decommits, soft verbals, hard verbals, silent verbals, commitable offers, non-commitable offers and committed but looking around pledges is flawed, but trying to lay this situation at the feet of Coach Tuberville and his staff is wrong.
The Kempts, the high school coach and any other advisor also needs to take some of the blame as well as possibly the Tennessee staff. Kempt's brother is there and they contacted him evidently leading him to think the Vols might offer. maybe they still will.
There's just plenty of blame to go around for a system that is incredibly flawed.
I hope Kyle goes on and has a great career and gets a great education. I see Oregon State is showing interest, and that's where he's originally from. I think Coach Riley is a great coach and great man. I hope it works out that Kyle ends up being a Beaver, but they need to quit the kicking and screaming that they've been treated unfairly.

Heard them them discuss this story on 97.1FM in Columbus today. They tied this story in with the alleged story about TT leaving the recruits at the steakhouse to portray this staff and TT in a very bad light. Someone better start telling "The Rest of the Story" (as Paul Harvey used to say) and do some PR before more coaches in Ohio start black balling us.
The problem is coaches can't speak specifically about this situation because it would border on an NCAA violation.
Nobody cares about Massillon. They are bunch delusional cheaters who have a superiority complex. They cheated my high school in multiple football games and they think they are best high school football team to ever grace Ohio. They will whine nobody cares.
Is this the coach's interview?
Leon rants on his teammates in a post-game
Why are we told to not judge Islam by the actions of a few extremists, but judge all gun owners by the actions of a few killers?
Btw, the bearcats were recruiting Nathaniel Devers at Massillon (2014) already... He's worth an offer, I'd love to see Tuberville throw the kid an offer and watch Jason Hall squirm.
