Darrell Hazell from Kent State is my pick, if Butch goes.
Has Big East / Ohio State ties, Kent State doesn't have a long term viability compared to UC.
(or Tom O'Brien, who is from Cincinnati and is a St. X grad - and whose old DC just lost his job too...)

Hiring the MAC conf. champ has been a winning formula for us. But if BE is not part of the major bowl system it will be hard to get now we are on the level with the MAC, CUSA, MWC and Sun Belt. May have to get an assistant coach. Kyle Flood got RU a conf. title. Maybe Diaco would not be bad or an assistant out of Alabama like Kirby Smart.
What about Luke Fickell or Kliff Kingbury? Too young guys trying to make a name for themselves
I think we need to keep a spread offense guy, are they?
Kliff Kingbury is the Offensive Coordinator for Texas A&M.
Kliff Kingbury is in his first year at TAMU. Luke Fickell tried HC job did not work out. I hope the top five list is mostly made up of winning HC.
I think I'm on the Tressel bandwagon. Great coach and recruiter. Would say we're serious about football and the sanctions on him aren't that big of a deal. I would sacrifice the first five games for his recruiting and a few years to build the program. For the high risk Whit would take, make his buyout extremely high so he's locked into UC for a long time. I think his caliber of coaching would make UC into a powerhouse and put us into a better conference.
A thought on HC experience...Oregon, Florida, and Oklahoma didn't think it was that important, every1 is a first time HC once, get whoever you think is the best.
Kingsbury is my #1 choice, think he will be a star, has already proven he can run an offense at Houston and Texas A&M
After him in no order it's Kirby Smart, Narduzzi, Willie Taggert, Brent Pease (Florida OC) Hazzell, Mike McIntyre

Campbell at Toledo is an Ohio guy, born in Massillon, played at Mt. Union, has coached at BG and Toledo, no identifiable ties to a dream school and really young in his low 30's, I think worth a look.
No to any of those.
I would also look at Chad Morris the OC for Clemson...
So what's your suggestion all knowing Sourcy McSourcerson?
Hey Skip Holtz is available.
I literally when I read this.
The answer is Jim Tressell, period. UC needs to go into "Rally the Flag" mode at this point and there would be nobody better. People in the Tri-State... heck the state... who are luckwarm on UC football would show up to watch Tress coach again. The national media would eat it up... ESPN would be covering this program non-stop following the disgraced man who was given a second chance.
Just to clarify, JT would have have to sit out the first 5 games and would not be eligible to coach in our bowl game in 2013. After that I that needs to be done is Whit needs to fill out a form to the Infractions Committee every six months to confirm he is in compliance. Tressel can recruit, he can hire assts... it is a win-win.
I'd love to have Tressell. But, would he be open to running a spread offense? We hardly have the personnel for a Big-Ten type attack.
Only concern is that'd he jump after a few years to the SEC or something after we gave him the second chance. If I were Whit, make his buyout $10 million for the first five years. We give him the second chance and he rewards us by staying at least 5 years.
I doubt he would be interested. Is the objection to the Toledo guy his age?
I too would love to have Tressel but I agree with BJ's concern about the style of play he would run and the fit with our current personnel. If we can get past that, I personally would rather have him than Butch.
I would say in addition to Campbell's age, he has only been a head coach one year, right? Too big of a gamble at this point in my mind.
Me too, but I had trouble pronouncing "McSourcerson".
I assumed it was a joke
I was referring to those listed in title of thread. I like the ones you continue to mention.
My dream scenario would be hire Tressel as hc and hire former psu dc Tom Bradley as associate hc/dc and let him coach the 1st 5 games and the bowl game that tressel would not be able to coach because of the show cause. I would also make sure he hires young oc that runs spread offense.
I was just messing with you anyway, hope you know that
