Hmmm “@jbook37: The rumors swirling are FSU has the votes as they are working to become an AAU member but Michigan does not want them.”
“@JBTexasEx: Latest realignment rumors have UVA, FSU and possibly UNC all submitting paperwork to B1G for membership.”
“@KilroyFSU: My sources agree. RT @theDudeofWV As it looks right now FSU is 100% certain destined for the B1G. Plan for AAU membership was to placate MI.”
I am not on Twitter but someone I know sent these to me via text msg...just sayin
Maybe that is the big tens last ditch move that will change college sports forever. Pretty big if you ask me
So that would mean the B1G undoubtedly wants to get to 16? What was supposed to change college sports forever? Maybe they meant RUIN college sports forever
@Creid85 UC class of 10'
Moose was refrencing a big change
Big 10 would go to 18 if it could shake North Carolina loose. I don't see North Carolina abandoning Duke. And the political heat from the likes of Wake Forest and NC State is enormous for UNC for remain in the ACC. But the kind of money UNC could make in the Big 10 is enormous as well. Hopefully, UC will find a soft landing in this mess.
Yes the B10 is made up of big schools, but do they really carry enough clout to add schools to the AAU? We are talking about 62 of the most elite universities in the world. Do you really think they'll be strong armed just so the B10 can add to their conference? This is ludicrous at best.
Just an FYI....jbook37 is a Bucknuts poster and accumulates information, but don't think he has the information first handed..
And the Dude of WV has never been correct.
Moose's post on that sounded like something they would do in the courts.
Yes, Moose describe the move as a legal maneuver that would have major ramifications for college sports.
2 National Championships - 30 Conference Championships - 6 Final Fours
UC LCoB '12 - @RyanTJBauer
How many of these insiders need to predict the end of the ACC before we realize it probably isn't going to happen?
The Dude of WVU started the FSU to AAU rumor. Based on that it has no merit.
FSU might have submitted an application but applying in no way = invite.
UC has applied and is still waiting. 3/4 of the current members have to vote a school in and it sometimes takes another school getting the boot to get into the Exclusive Club as the AAU wants to keep it's number right around 60.
Assuming FSU has applied, FSU is way behind some other schools on the "waiting list" in research dollars and that is considered the most important metric.
"AAU membership is by invitation only, which requires an affirmative vote of three-fourths of current members. Invitations are considered periodically, based in part on an assessment of the breadth and quality of university programs of research and graduate education, as well as undergraduate education. The association ranks its members using four criteria: Research spending, the percentage of faculty who are members of the National Academies, faculty awards, and citations. Two thirds of members can vote to revoke membership for poor rankings."
The Big10 does not have enough members of the AAU nor clout to push another school into the AAU.
It takes 75% of members to vote another school in.
