McMurphy tweeted out he made a mistake on the AmericaOne.org and that it was supposed to say America12.org.
The America 12 Conference is the favorite to become the new name of the current Big East Conference's football schools, league sources told ESPN.
Does it really matter? A kick ass name doesn't change our situation.
How about we just tie all of these ideas together and become The Big Mac - the best of the rest sponsored by McDonalds...I'm lovin it!
one foot out the door conference.

Funny thread about it
BigEastbbs: The #1 Board for Big East Conference sports on the internet.
I'm afraid to jump into the fray after my blunder in another thread.
don't blame you
University of Cincinnati class of '14
Sounds like they're going for a more universal generic name. It may be cheesy, but it is no surprise that they threw "America" in there. Why not?
I don't really care too much about the name to be honest, but there are worse things than having 'America' in our conference name IMO. Football is as 'American' as "applie pie" and so forth :)
Randy Marsh agrees
How about the Premier National Conference??? Sponsored by PNC Bank naturally!
Kidding aside, the America 12 has a minor league feel to it... I've ben pushing for the NCC - the National Collegiate Conference.....
I gotta tell ya, 2014 season worries me just a bit.
Me too... We better have a new conference in site by 2014.... Otherwise, the America 12 or whatever we will be called needs to Merge with the Mountain West and make this league halfway desirable by then... The new conference will offer us no chance to improve our strength of schedule unless we add a few Top25 programs into the conference.
The Trek-geek in me likes that...
I think Big American Conference has a nice ring to it. Plenty of big Americans on the couch watching big Americans on the field.
Whatever the new name is, it's not on this list...
Looks like we're losing the Belk Bowl.
League officials have discussed a multisite alliance among four power conferences -- SEC, Big 12, Big Ten and ACC -- involving rotations to maximize matchups over six years, according to two sources with knowledge of those discussions. The Music City Bowl, Belk Bowl and Alamo Bowl are among sites mentioned.
Too bad we can't get the other conferences to tell the Big 12 if they want to be a part of a "power alliance", they need to get to at least 12 schools.
I know I'm clueless, but I will never understand how any of this "shutting out other schools" is legal.
I don't think it is. I think there are some anti trust violations going on and it will take one brave president and BOT to fight this.
My guess is the bowl lineup for the America 12 will be what the C-USA bowl lineup is. We'll be playing in the Liberty (Memphis), The Heart Of Dallas Bowl (SMU), The Beef O'Brady Bowl (USF), The New Orleans Bowl (Tulane) and maybe we'll get a Houston based bowl game. Odds are we'll be playing C-USA, MAC, Sun Belt and the MWC in bowl games. The days of playing a half decedent power conference school in a bowl game are over if we don't get out of this conference.
Sounds like a job for the #HottestCollegeinAmerica Either UC really is going to be "fine" or Ono has no clue what football was like at UC before getting into the Big East.

This will all end up in federal court before its done. The damages awarded could be astronomical.
Quite frankly, UC raising hell over anti trust violations could wind up with UC getting included sooner rather than later. I realize it could backfire, but it's cheaper to give the squeaky wheel a little grease than to fight it for months on end. Essentially, TCU was getting a little noisy about the BCS being a problem until they got into the Big East (and later Big 12), suddenly the school didn't have near as much of an issue with the 'system' as they did when they were on the outside looking in.
