Coyne Moves to Fullback

When new UC offensive coordinator, Eddie Gran, made it clear that the Bearcats “will” be using a fullback next season, many fans wondered where he’d find one since Brian Kelly and Butch Jones both used a spread concept, and no fullback had been recruited for years. Despite that concern, Gran remained steadfast in his desire to use a fullback as part of his 2013 offensive attack. That determination led to some position changes, and one of the most physically attractive candidates was quarterback Patrick Coyne.

Make no mistake he has the strongest arm on the team.... I hope that shows up in the trick play bag somewhere.
For what its worth, he looks like a fullback who can hammer folks.
We'll just have to see if he can actually do it.

With guys like Balir and Luc manning the LB spots for the cats it shouldnt take too long to get an answer. Not too many guys out there with that kind of size and strength. If Coyne can take those guys on I think he'll be just fine.

I believe Bull in the Ring is illigal now. We used to do it in 70's - but I thought NCAA banned it

Glad to see he's excited. Did he have any chance at the QB position? Is he giving that up?

I gotta say I love the move for Coyne! He's an extremely tough kid and has a mentality for that position. Gotta love the hard working types who do anything they can to get on the field and contribute, in this case, moving from a position of glory to a position of obscurity. I hope it works out and he sees the field a lot more this fall.
