I'm not saying we would be a bottom feeder, I meant more in terms of culture. Iowa St is just a bad fit for the Big XII culture and its why it doesn't generate buzz locally or nationally. Its a blah school even though they have a lot of positives.
Its also a big time recruiting hit. That is NOT our recruiting area and never will be. I am petrified of what would happen to our basketball recruiting once we lost our foothold in the east. A lot of our staple players in recent years have been from the New York area.

The Boise piece of this rumor is interesting. I read somewhere that Boise was arguing for UC's entry in the Mountain West for football-only and minimal to no exit fees for leaving. Maybe Boise knows something and is trying to create a favorable relationship with UC. At a minimum I think it speaks to UC's media value. I have a hard time believing Boise would be a target, but if the Big 12 were able to get FSU, Clemson, Cincinnati, and Boise I would definitely call its expansion a success. Plus, by taking Boise and UC you effectively kill the Big East for good, and gut the Mountain West.
Or maybe to rumor is just another red herring.

I'm going to be honest, if this happens (meaning UC goes Big XII, moves home games to PBS), I will be borderline furious. UC would be sacrificing everything that makes them a special event in this city.
I honestly feel we could end up being another Iowa St in this scenario. Is that really what we as a university want our athletics to be? Just bland? We don't fit in the Big XII in any way, football wise, basketball wise, culture wise, recruiting wise. It should be considered only a last option move if its that or get left out. And we shouldn't be moving games downtown. In the OP's rumor scenario above, I would still rather be in the ACC after the defections than be the red headed step child of the Big XII with their inept leadership and Texas dominance.

This looks like a crazy rumor. B12 could have UC at any time if they wanted them.
If a few ACC schools are pried away, then they will just go after another ACC school. The only way UC ends up in the B12 is if almost all of the ACC teams hold pat. Then they will be forced to look at USF/UCF and UC & BYU. My guess is ACC if anything.
All the big conferences are playing chess and no one wants to be on the outside looking in. All the WF/Baylor types are probably somewhat nervous.

"no kid that is any good wants to play in the conference of misfit toys".
Pretty broad statement in my opinion. There is lots of talent out there. Some get overlooked, some develop later, some want to see the field sooner, and some want to go to UC (believe it or not). We are a program now!
