  • That Jones kid heading to Michigan St. Man, what is the connection up there?

A nice little payment from MSU to Rodenberg ( Moeller HC) is the connection..

  • Rodenberg is definitely all in on MSU. I still remember Rodenberg going completely nuts because Monty Madaris waited to send in his LOI to MSU last year. When Madaris went silent for a few hours Rodenberg said he wants nothing to do with his player and that he supports MSU. Basically said he couldn't care less about his athletes and he's just trying to get in good with coaches at the next level. The guy is a complete joke.

  • Rottenberg sounds like a real piece of work. From the reports I read it sounded as if Monty Madaris wanted to sign with UC but was pressured by his HC coach to sign with MSU.

  • What, if anything can we do about it? These young men are listening to the hc for 4 years and it gets to you automatically after a while. If we don't recruit Moeller we might miss out on someone who wants to be here and can help the team.

I wonder what the administration is doing while all this is going on.

Last years debacle with Monty did nothing but really deflate a kid's self worth, and nothing was presumably done about it.

  • Last year??? You mean two months ago??

  • Congrats coach rodenberg.... Keep sucking up to dantonio and one day you might just get a job in east Lansing. Doubtful but good luck. Total waste of time for UC to do anything with moeller.

  • While you don't want to miss anyone who might help the program, why don't we tone down the recruiting news for these guys to a level commensurate with UC's likelihood of getting them? Were part of the problem and no doubt the hostile coaches get off on the regularly expressed dashed hopes of local UC fans.

  • It's a none issue, express interest when there is a player worthy of being a Bearcat; be selective and if the interest isn't commensurate, move on with as little fanfare as possible-I frankly don't care about hs kids who want to go elsewhere, recruit players who want to be here, be successful on the field, win bowl games, graduate players, and send them to the next level-that is my definition of a quality program and if the players come from Nome, Alaska or Moeller is irrelevant.

    This.

As far as I see it, it is their loss not UC's. More often than not, UC gets guys who are just as good (if not better) from elsewhere. Even the locals who have succeeded where not considered blue-chippers but have for the most part have had stellar careers. I'm sure guys like Darius Ashley and Greg Scruggs sure resent having to watch their home team play in two BCS bowls while the highlight of their careers was one visit to the Beef O'Brady Bowl (not to mention their teams went 0-4 against UC).

I trust the coaching staff to fill out another stellar recruiting class who excels not only on the field, but in the classroom and in life.

I have to agree with you, but in Monty's case he seemed to have wanted to go to UC and we wanted him, so then what? All i'm saying is, it is very frustrating.

    linrol70

  • Frustration is part of life; nobody said life was fair, the first step in the maturation process is accepting the responsibility to make decisions and then live with the consequences of that decision; handlers who make the decisions for them , Monty included, are doing them a big disservice.

A perfect example of someone who stood up and made a decision for himself is Derek Wolfe when he told OSU no thanks, I'm going to UC.
