More games and wins against top 25 teams.

I am with Decoursey on this one....and I am afraid UC will make a bad decision here and sounds like they are already down the path.

I just dont see the ROI in putting $70MM into a new press box, some club seats and maybe luxury boxes and the like into Nippert. I love Nippert but to me it makes so much more sense, especially in realignment days, to have a NFL stadium with 60k plus capacity.

Basketball on other hand can sell out a better arena with seats and luxury suites. The basketball program is on verge of top 10 and Cronin may end up being the next elite coach in 5 years. We know this city will support basketball. Its been slow to come back but its been done before.

While I do agree with moving games to PBS, I was just commenting on what UC should do if they indeed pursue a Nippert renovation which it seems like they're going to do. In a perfect world...

I'd say the craziest thing they could do would be to link the two renovations. Both could probably have pathways to paying for 75% of the cost.

The rest of us could just pony up. I'm relatively poor, but give me a way to help. 3-4k PSLs, 20-40 boxes, etc.

Put a staggered plan together for 5/3. Locker rooms and club room in the next 2 years, newish arena in 5-7 years.

A vision is both. Nippert is a more pressing need, but there needs to be an immediate plan for basketball (even if its just adding more comfortable seats in the bottom three rows that can be more expensive and some facilities upgrades.)

That stadium will seat 25K with total capacity of 30K.

Had a friend discontinue season ticket purchase because of the upper deck leg room. He was probably somewhere in rows 10-15 (the leg room in the first few rows of the upper deck, which is where my tickets are, is manageable).

How many does the lower bowl + club level of PBS hold? We could tarp off the upper deck to try to concentrate fans in the viewing area.

Everyone here seems to forget what disaster the Louisville game was last year. The game had the feeling of a 2nd tier bowl game, looked half empty when I was at the game and when I watched a replay, and not to mention-we lost money on the whole deal.

WVU was a little better (48k) but again....we lost money due to the sponsorship mix up.

Talk to Pitt fans about playing at Heinz Field. Most of them hate it and long for the days of playing on campus. Many Pitt fans love coming to Nippert as it is reminiscent of Pitt.

I highly doubt Whit is going to move forward with something has no realistic chance of getting good ROI. The guy is a machine as an AD and I just can't seem him ramming the Nippert Renovation through and there not being a chance to ever make the money back.

As far as tarping off the corners in the upper deck...that looks awful on TV. It also is a good way to become a laughing stock/joke.

You think people diss our stadium now and turn out? Just imagine when we are up for the ACC again and you hear people constantly remarking at our 'covered seats because we can't draw.'

PBS has it's merits. But what Decoursey does not realize is that currently the sponsorship/advertising deal does not mesh with the Bengals, MB isn't willing to make a deal that is advantageous for the Bearcats and Bengals.

Pitt loves to claim-they are co-owners with the Steelers. But perception (and reality) is that it is the STEELERS stadium where Pitt happens to play football.

Back to the point-Whit is not going to let something go through that has no chance of making good ROI.

And for the few times a decade that we have a team that can pack more than 50k we go down to PBS and play. But 90% of the time (and even in the ACC) we don't bring teams in or have the level of fan interest to justify going down to PBS. In fact, maybe if NIppert is 'modernized' more fans will go there for the same reason many of you want to move to PBS now. But playing in an half empty PBS was absolutely miserable last year vs. Louisville and didn't do the rivalry any justice.

And as for both Nippert and 5/3 how about like said before we use PBS for big games and join up with the city renovate US Bank as a joint venture between Cincinnati and the university and make a kick ass multipurpose arena. Thats world class. Then maybe we'll get the NCAA tourney games when we put in a bid. If Louisville can do it so can we. This is mutually beneficially to both the city and university. Hell I was originally against moving the law school down town but, we need to merge the school and the city. Lets do whatever it takes! Extremely tired of the, "no we don't have the money excuse." Figure it out. The stadiums don't need to be right on top of one another. And the teams don't have to be on campus for any of us to go and watch them play. After the surprise hire of #TommyT I'm of the mindset that anything is possible with this leadership that's in place at the university! What a great day! Go bearcats!

One concept I've thought of is making the south endzone (above the student section and up towards the historic building that can't be torn down) a sort of 'party deck' area or a beer garden. You could sell it off as a the 'Miller Lite/Bud Light/Budweiser/Christian Morlein/Pick your favorite beer party deck and hang a big removable sign on the building.

Or what they could do is turn this into a sort of group seating or company outing place for large groups or companies to watch from.

Either way it would be a relatively cheap way to churn out more revenue.

This is a broad concept and the details would have to be more thought out...but I think it could work.
