I, like most of you it seems, wish we were in one of the other premier conferences. But, as you all bash on Williams, Whit, and the BOT about not doing something, you have to remember that unless we get invited, we can't do much but try to position ourselves, and that, I think, is what Todd and others are saying. We can't just leave the Big East and knock on the door of the Big 12/ACC/B1G and say let us in, because it seems none of them want us right now. I will bet my a$$ that Pres. and AD have been talking privately to other conference members, but they know that we just aren't attractive as WE tend to think, at least not yet.

Agreed, faithful, and I for one would rather some other conference come calling on us rather than going begging to another only to be snubbed [[cough-cough [WVA, Rutgers, UConn] cough-cough]].
As the saying goes, better to be invited to sit in a place of prominence than to sit down at the head table and be asked to move.

Does anyone have figures on the type of television ratings UC brings in? One of the things I constantly hear is that "people have crunched the numbers and UC offers nothing to increase the _____ conference television contracts. As much as we talk about our attendance issues AT THE GAME, do we know how many are watching at home?

Disagree 100000%. Big 12 is not the right fit right now. There is no way UC could compete financially with the top tier programs. President Williams and the entire University have a long range plan that is going to take time to implement. UC fans will need to be patient and let things play out over the next decade before you start making statements like the one above.

Appreciate the honesty JK, Sure we would have liked to go in fully vested but but long term ya can't argue it's a good move and of course Cincy or UL would have done the same, and will should the ACC B12 B10 ect.. come calling, we all know that. No hard feelings for sPitt,or SU from me, they did what was best for them, and had to, ALL of the programs busted their hump to try n compete with the other conferences on a shoestring budget but the "leadership" was too blinded by the hoops only's and NotreDame to get us a lil more $ (expand the football side CCG ect..) that extra money could have helped, heck just the thought of the former BE teams keeping their respective coaches and having them today is a scary thought no?
As far as a rival, I'm going OSU for the near future, with the coaching grabs on our end I feel sure we will get a warm welcome by the Cowboy faithful. I agree a good rivalry or two is great for any conference and ideally you'd like the geography to be close but it doesn't have to be backyard brawl style close, to be honest I'm glad (and so are alot of other WVU fans) that the brawl is done, sPitt just doesn't offer much anymore for us, you win and it's well big deal look at them... you lose and OMG You lost to THEM the team with no fans?! What is there to gain
? If we are going to have a game with a PA team I'd much rather get the Penn State game back but.... Anyhow good luck to the Bearcats, should be interesting watching you and the Cards battle it out for the BE next year, and BTW shut those Bronco fans up please? NO they would not have ran the BigEast, prove it to them!
