  • I was pleased with the overall performance last night, altho I thought that the bigs all had difficulty with put backs. Maybe they should move the ball back outside when they are directly under the basket? If Huggs was still here, I don't know what he would have done to JJ after that stupid foul at the end of the half. Fortunately, the team is resilient and came back nicely after giving up the lead. Go Cats.

I will piggy back you and vent for the last time.

JJ frustrates me so much sometimes due to his lack of playing good position defense or making the easy play sometimes. He will not play proper position defense sometimes or let his man get a step on him with ball because he thinks he can block everything. But that usually leads to fouls either from him or from other guys having to rotate over to help. He gave up that lay up and foul right at the end od the first half because he was not playing good position D. I'm not sure how mick held his composure that last 1:00 minute in the first half with JJ.

On the other hand JJ makes so many great plays that others don't and we couldn't win without him. The guy makes me smile a lot and then want to pull out my hair. I wish we could keep him 3 - 4 more years.

  • JJ reminds of 5 hour energy . It pumps you up but there are always dangers..I love him as a member of our team and respect all he brings to the table. .Still waiting on all the bulbs to come on at the same time..He would run thru a brick wall for his team...

  • Great game and fun to watch. That game showed how important Cash is to the team. No surprise they struggled when he is out and dominated when he played. Still put the blame on Cronin for the end of first half miscue. The game was almost ruined by the officials. Called everything inside on both teams. What did Woods play 7 minutes before fouling out.

  • I felt several of the fouls called on our big last night were pretty bad. Can't get too mad at JJ for being in foul trouble because almost all of his fouls come from hustle plays or going for the ball.

As Mick said, if we can ever find a way to keep him on the floor for 20+ mins, this team will be scary good.

It's a damn good thing we signed Nyarsuk. He isn't putting up huge numbers but his presence and depth off the bench have been crucial during the early part of the season. I really liked how both he and Cheikh showed emotion last night when they felt they had bad calls go against them.

  • We had two big bursts in the games on Friday and Saturday, only to see the opponent rally once the momentum faded. Once we get in that position of being up big and you start to sense the other team getting ready to counterpunch (with desperation, because the game does have ebb and flow to it, and their backs are against the wall), I'd like to see us drop back into that matchup zone we used to great effect later in the year last year. It's harder for us to rebound out of, but when an opponent is in the frenzy phase that Iowa State and Oregon were in this weekend, we're getting beat in rebounding aggression anyhow. Let's at least keep people in front of us and away from the basket. It would also help protect our bigs, who appear to be foul magnets at the moment once anything gets past our perimeter defenders.

  • Rothstein giving the Cats some love

"Cincy beats Oregon 77-66. Bearcats are tough as nails. Legit Top 15-20 team."

"Sean Kilpatrick + Cashmere Wright are playing at an incredibly high level right now. Clearly look like the best back court in the Big East. "

Would be awesome if a student made a large replica of a 5 hour energy bottle and called it like "2 hour JJ" or something creative.

Due to foul trouble, I believe "18 minute JJ" is more accurate...

Would also be nice if a student did a Lawrence big head.

I propose the use of this picture.
