I agree that he may have gotten a little overhyped, but I'd say from the student side it's been a great thing. I've been loving the fact that even non-diehards know about his recruitment and are excited about it. That points to better things for the program IMO.
IF he ends up here, my expectations are that he will rebound, play tough D, maybe score a couple garbage points down low, and rebound (wait, did I say that already? )
Offensively he will probably be a big project, and that is fine, so long as our guards are scoring it and moving the ball, he will fit in perfectly, and not HAVE to be a "big scoring threat" for at least the first couple seasons.
In my opinion, he would basically be walking in to the reverse situation as Yancy did. Yancy was a local top 25 player, and was expected to dominate immediately. For all intents and purposes, we kind of needed him to do so, and without having a true block player to look up to and learn from.
Obekpa would have scorers all around him, and would be able to develop his game over time.
