Coming Up at Bearcat Lair

Bearcat Lair wants to thank all the long-time and new members that have made us the largest UC sports site on the internet. We have experienced nearly 50% growth since November and have continued to add new members every week. BCL believes one reason for this unprecedented growth is the daily participation of so many of our members on our message boards as well as giving their personal recommendations to other UC fans. For that, we are extremely grateful to all of our loyal members, but even though National Signing Day for football is now over, there are still plenty of reasons to remain a member or to finally join the site.

With ten staff members, no other UC site has produced the amount of quality content that BCL has generated in the last few months. Bearcat Lair has been averaging more than two stories a day since August, but there is still much more to report including the Big East Tournament, the NCAA Tournament, Bearcat baseball, junior days for football, 2014 scholarship offers, spring football coverage, summer camps, AAU tournament coverage and more.

After doing a great job of covering National Signing Day, BCL’s Sam Kwiatkowski will immediately be looking for any late signees in addition to focusing on junior day attendees and new 2014 offers/commits. Kwiatkowski is the clear leader when it comes to UC football recruiting and has provided hundreds of articles after joining the BCL staff almost a year ago.

Largely due to Kwiatkowski’s efforts, no other Cincinnati media has broken more recruiting stories over the years than BCL, and our commit list is consistently the most accurate on the internet due to our commitment to providing only the most updated and accurate information- not rumors. In addition, when we report commitments, we always accompany that news with a story that sites our sources.

Bearcat Lair was also the first in reporting every new assistant UC football coaching hire.

As basketball season approaches its final weeks, Eric Lilly provides our members with game stories while Chad Brendel gives game-by-game in-depth analysis as well as game previews and recruiting updates. Brendel also hits the road in the spring and summer to provide first-hand reports from a number of the top AAU basketball tournaments.

In the next few days, we are also expecting Brendel to be the only reporter to get a one-on-one interview with recently committed high school basketball star Jermaine Lawrence.

Scott Springer will continue to provide his “Where Are They Now?” pieces on former Bearcat football and basketball stars. No one knows more about the history of UC football and basketball than Springer, who has covered the Bearcat squads for decades. His next piece will feature former UC basketball great, Leonard Stokes.

After having in-depth interviews with Tommy Tuberville, offensive coordinator Eddie Gran and defensive coordinator Art Kaufman, Tim Adams will turn his attention to Bearcat baseball with a comprehensive three part Cincinnati baseball preview that identifies the primary candidates for the starting eight positions, an analysis of the UC pitching staff and an interview with Coach Cleary that addresses recruiting, walk-ons, scholarship money, the 2013 schedule and the Big East Conference as a whole.

Adams will also have reports from the fifteen spring football practices, and no one in the media has attended more UC football practices and written more practice reports over the years than he has.

Carey Hoffman’s “Carey’s Corner” pieces along with Mark Bixler’s “Bix’s Picks” have become popular features as they provide their unique and entertaining analyses of Bearcat athletics throughout the year while Brian Baker and Pat Strang supplement stories/content with their excellent photos and photo galleries.

Bearcat Lair’s newest addition is Eric Waddell also known as “bearcatvol” at the Bearcat Insider message board. Waddell has a media background and has been the moderator at BCI for years providing countless links to stories related to UC athletes or recruits and will be a media specialist at BCL.

In addition to the excellent coverage, Bearcat Lair also has a very active message board where knowledgeable BCL members and guests can discuss the issues with other informed but respectful UC fans.

As a part of the ever-growing 247sports network, your membership also gives you access to dozens of other college sites with the ground-breaking technology that Shannon Terry (former founder of Rivals) and his staff have continued to create over the last two years.

If you’re not a BCL member, we hope you’ll give Bearcat Lair a try. If you’re already a member, we hope you’ll stay to enjoy the best and most comprehensive UC sports information anywhere. A monthly membership breaks down to only 33 cents a day while a yearly subscription is only 29 cents a day. There is a reason Bearcat Lair is the biggest and fastest growing website covering the University of Cincinnati’s sports’ programs, and the coverage definitely doesn’t stop with National Signing Day.
